Character balance changes in have been quite substantial lately, with huge universal system adjustments coming to Season 7 when it started. For the midway update in Season 7.5, there are fewer overall buffs and nerfs for various heroes, even to the Team-Up abilities that help form character synergies. However, these changes are quite lengthy to compensate, drastically shifting how certain heroes approach battles.
In many ways, the Season 7.5 patch is similar to the that have taken place in past Seasons. Those adjustments typically occurred when a new character was too "broken" or "OP" in the game, requiring fixes to their abilities fast. Thankfully, Season 7's White Fox hasn't needed an overhaul, but Black Cat might require one when Season 7.5 arrives.
Every Season 7.5 Character Nerf
Strong Skills For All Heroes Have Become Less Reliable
One of the biggest nerfs delivered to all characters in Marvel Rivals Season 7.5 was the "Chain-CC Protection" labeled in the patch notes. According to this change, if a hero suffers 5.5 seconds of total CC duration, or is hit by six different CC effects within a seven-second window, a system called Chain-CC Protection will activate. This system actively purges all CC effects, and grants heroes 30% Tenacity for three seconds.
"CC" refers to Crowd Control, or abilities that stun targets. Some CC skills from certain characters include Luna Snow's freeze, Mantis' sleeping mist, or Peni Parker's Cyber Snare.
Additional CC effects cause Tenacity to scale higher, making it easier for heroes to break free of stunning abilities from their enemies. Total immunity from CC nerfs a variety of characters who rely on those skills to set up their strongest tools. For example, has multiple CC moves tied to her Ultimate, which now has reduced strength due to this universal balance change.
Although CC Protection has a cooldown, and isn't applicable to cinematic stun effects, it does change the game significantly for specific heroes. Likewise, some characters got targeted nerfs to their abilities, as the table shows below:
Vanguard Deadpool and Winter Soldier had the most nerfs this update, but Elsa Bloodstone was also hit pretty hard. Some of these characters also got buffs to compensate for these reductions in strength, yet eagle-eyed players will notice that these changes directly target abilities that are particularly strong after CC effects are used. For the most part, though, there aren't as many nerfs in Season 7.5 after the universal changes are applied.
Every Season 7.5 Character Buff
Many Strong New Abilities Added To Weaker Characters
Although the CC effect changes may seem like Season 7.5 is geared toward nerfs, there are actually far more buffs in this update than you might expect. Some characters have entire abilities altered, giving them new effects on some skills. Added flexibility for particular characters creates greater layers of balance, especially when combined with the already applied to Marvel Rivals' cast.
Take a look at the table below to see which characters received positive changes toward their tool kits in Season 7.5:
Undobutedly, the biggest winner of Season 7.5's buffs is Ultron, whose Ultimate has been almost reworked from the ground up to be bigger and better. However, The Human Torch and Peni Parker also got buffed well, with extra mobility and survivability allowing them to contribute more to teams than they could before. Although it will take some experimenting to see the full potential of these characters, the extra options are welcome changes to the game.
Every Season 7.5 Team-Up Balance Change
One New Ability Combines With Slight Tweaks To Older Synergies
There aren't too many Team-Up changes in Season 7.5, with no Team-Ups going away like they have in previous seasonal patches. Instead, players can look forward to a new Team-Up with the arrival of Black Cat, Season 7.5's newest character. Black Cat acts as the Anchor for her Team-Up, including both Captain America and in an exciting new team synergy.
Season 8 will have greater changes to Team-Ups in the long run, likely removing one or two abilities in favor of new connections between old and new characters.
Simply putting these three characters together gives Black Cat a 5% boost in damage output, making the Duelist hit harder during matches. The Team-Up, called Lucky Loan, gives Captain America the ability Vibranium Bastion, which allows him to boost his shield's deflection radius and use his crosshairs to accurately reflect projectiles at his enemies. At the same time, White Fox gains Nine-Tailed Aura, an ability that boosts her projectiles to track targets better for healing and damage.

Only one other Team-Up has received changes in Season 7.5, described in further detail within the table below:
The total amount of balance changes in this seasonal update aren't nearly as extensive as they have been in the past, but this is likely by design. As Marvel Rivals continues forward, its "Path to Doomsday" events, new PvE mode, and continual character additions are taking priority, providing fresh content for the popular hero shooter instead of over-adjusting what already exists.
