The themes revealed for Evercold may be the very key to its success. The expansion is set to revisit some of the most intriguing aspects of the story arc told between A Realm Reborn and Endwalker, taking players directly to one of the many places that have been devastated during the Sundering. The , as well as the sense of how disconnected it felt to our journeys as world-saving heroes, were some of what made the game suffer the aforementioned decline.

Not only is the new MMORPG’s expansion now tackling a theme that appeals to players, but Square Enix has made it public that it is aware of dissatisfaction among players and is actively working to address all of its facets. It remains to be seen if Final Fantasy 14 will once again rule the MMORPG landscape with a heart-wrenching story and incredible gameplay options, but Evercold kindles hope for the future.
