Clayface Trailer Release Confirmed
The X account for Clayface posted a fresh image alongside the caption “Teaser Tomorrow,” confirming that promotional footage is imminent.
The image displays a copy of Gotham Medical, hinting at the transformation process Matt will undergo to become the iconic DC villain.
The project delves into Batman mythology, featuring one of Bruce Wayne’s most formidable adversaries in DC Studios’ inaugural R-rated Batman film slated for release this fall.
Social media accounts have already debuted, showcasing a project image and building anticipation among fans. View the reveal below:
The official still presents a DCU magazine spread featuring Matt Hagen—played by Tom Rhys Harries—as a rising star whose journey toward fame takes a dramatic turn when his appearance changes forever. This iteration of Clayface appears frequently across various media, cementing its place in Batman lore.
Issue #317 featuring Hagen’s cover also hides several Easter eggs for dedicated comics collectors. Highlights include references to “Plus Sophie Powell, Ashes On Sunday, Blister Twister, Lucy Haley, Deliana”—with “Blister Twister” nodding to a 1940 Batman comic that parodied Twister Sister. The image fits perfectly within the film’s thematic context.
Though not initially part of DC’s original slate, the project gained momentum after Mike Flanagan’s compelling pitch impressed producers. James Gunn confirmed the decision during a 2026 interview with Gizmodo, emphasizing Flanagan’s vision and the quality script that convinced the team to adapt the story.
With marketing underway, speculation mounts about a potential trailer release. Production wrapped in late November 2026, leaving just six months until the October 23, 2026, debut. Meanwhile, DC Studios continues development on 2027’s Man of Tomorrow.
Clayface is scheduled for release on October 23.
Originally absent from early announcements, Clayface entered the franchise after Flanagan’s pitch impressed studio leadership. Gunn recalled agreeing to develop the film upon seeing its potential, resulting in a polished screenplay ready for production.
As marketing intensifies, fans anticipate a trailer soon. Upcoming releases include Supergirl (June 26) and the Lanterns series (August), with Man of Tomorrow already in pre-production for 2027.
Clayface will hit theaters on October 23.
