The official title for Martin Scorsese and Oscar Isaac's upcoming crime thriller series has been revealed.

A week earlier, it was announced that the acclaimed director and star were teaming up for an eight-episode Netflix series about the world of gambling in Las Vegas, with both attached to the project as executive producers. Isaac plays Robert "Bobby Red" Redman, who is the president of the city's most lucrative casino and who must take risks to retain his successful status.

Netflix has now announced that the series is titled . In addition to Isaac, the cast of series regulars includes Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin, and David Costabile. The show's creators and showrunners are Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who previously co-created the seven-season Billions series alongside Aaron Ross Sorkin.

In The Roman, Gilpin plays Bobby Red's wife, Marla Blake, who is a lawyer who knows just as much about Las Vegas' secrets as her husband does. Baldwin's character is Paul "Primo" Clark, a business technician and father figure to Bobby. As for Costabile, he plays Bill Saverick, who operates a competing casino, and must choose between his longtime friendship with Bobby and his business.

Isaac is coming off of another high-profile Netflix series following the release of on April 16, which he starred in and executive produced. The year before, he played the titular character in Netflix's Frankenstein directed and written by Guillermo del Toro, and with Jacob Elordi playing the Creature. In 2019, Isaac also starred in the Netflix action movie Triple Frontier. The Roman further solidifies his relationship with the streamer and the increasingly expanding list of projects he's done with them.

is filled with crime thrillers, including Netflix's The Irishman, and with classics like Goodfellas, Casino, and Taxi Driver. Both Scorsese and Isaac are going to appear in the film In the Hands of Dante, which debuted at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival and which is coming to Netflix later this year. Baldwin previously worked with Scorsese on the 2006 movie The Departed, which marks the only time the filmmaker won the Academy Award for Best Director.

Gilpin also has a history with Netflix, as she played Lucretia Garfield in the , Debbie "Liberty Belle" Eagan in GLOW, and Sara Holloway in American Primeval. She is also starring in Netflix's upcoming romantic comedy film Office Romance, which revolves around a raunchy workplace relationship that forms between Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein's characters. On October 9, Gilpin can be seen in the theatrical movie The Social Reckoning, an extension of The Social Network that explores Mark Zuckerberg and a 2026 Facebook scandal.

For Costabile, The Roman is a reunion with Billions' Koppelman and Levien, as he starred in all seven seasons of the Showtime drama series, which has an 87% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. He is also known for playing chemist Gale Boetticher in Breaking Bad and reprising the role in the spinoff show Better Call Saul.
