It's impossible to say how current Marvel Comics arc will play out, and that's exactly what has readers so excited. The Immortal Thor was Act One what is reportedly a three-act saga; act two, The Mortal Thor, is currently ongoing. It's the ambitious modern reinvention Marvel's Asgardian Avenger desperately needed, and it's not too late to jump on board.
The Mortal Thor is written by Al Ewing. Pasqual Ferry and Juann Cabal have provided art for the series, which has released nine issues so far.
The Immortal Thor previously ran for 25 issues, and the expectation among Marvel fans is that the same will be the case for Mortal, as well as whatever comes next. Which is completely up in the air right now.

Okay, seriously, spoilers forthcoming for the ending of Immortal Thor and the beginning of Mortal Thor. After teasing it for nearly two years, , erasing him from official Marvel canon in the process. That is, in the Marvel Universe, no one remembers the Mighty Thor, or the gods of Asgard.
As its title suggests, Mortal Thor follows a human version of Thor who likewise has no memory of Asgard or his history as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. , has steadily found himself the target of familiar supervillains from throughout Thor lore, though at this point in the series he remains unsure why.
The Mortal Thor is unlike anything else Marvel Comics is doing right now. It takes a big swing by making Thor's story smaller, after the cosmic escapades of Immortal Thor, and it takes a counterintuitive approach by slowing down the pacing, when most Marvel books operate at an increasingly breakneck speed. For these reasons and more, Mortal Thor is an absolute must-read.

Tying Together Decades Of Thor Lore & Launching The Next Phase
The Immortal Thor was ultimately a bow tied on 60 years of Thor history in Marvel Comics. The highlight of the run was author ; Ewing re-told stories from decades ago, bringing them back to the forefront of the franchise's mythology. For fans who have read classic Thor, it was deeply rewarding.
Yet you don't have to know these stories to enjoy Immortal Thor. In fact, it's the opposite. Immortal Thor is a love letter to earlier eras of Marvel, serving as a signpost pointing interested readers back to the most intriguing tales of a bygone era. If you're not already hooked on Thor lore, Immortal Thor will kickstart your obsession.
So far, Mortal Thor is a little harder to figure out. It's still drawing on its protagonist's past in exciting ways, but while Immortal was all about revising the hero's past, Mortal is patiently laying the groundwork for his future. And in that regard, it's unpredictable, which is something not enough Marvel series coming out right now can boast.

If You're Not Reading The Mortal Thor, You Should Be
It remains TBD how Mortal Thor will play out. Whether it will run 25 issues like Immortal Thor, or more, or less, and whether it will really be followed . But if this Thor saga does go the distance, it will amount to a 5-6 year project, one in which Marvel committed to a creator's singular vision for a major character and saw it through from start to finish.
