Following the release of the first two episodes of season 5, the superhero satire drama has officially landed its rating on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. The Prime Video series has landed an 85% audience score.

While users are still submitting their ratings for the new installment, it's crucial to remember that the Rotten Tomatoes score is a changing subject. Even before the next episode is released, the number could get higher or decrease, as more viewers catch up with the latest season.

At the time of this story's publication, however, The Boys season 5 had the second-highest Popcornmeter score, with season 1 still being rated the best by audience members. remains the least well-received season with a 54% rating. Currently, seasons 5 and 2 are tied on the Critics' Score, while season 3 is above season 4.

The final season begins on a massive note, as Homelander's tyranny continues to rise, while the ultimate war against him is in motion. The premiere saw the first major death for the swan-song season, as was killed by Homelander in the final scene of the first episode.

In ScreenRant's , Craig Elvy praised how the show's "closing act brings character returns few would've expected, traumas from season 1 that were never fully unpacked, and bubbling tensions that have been threatening to spill over for years." He also commented on how the Prime Video drama's final season "does afford each and every significant character enough room to complete their journeys."

The Boys season 5 will also be giving Supernatural audience members a big treat in the final season, as Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki will be reuniting with Jensen Ackles, following their tenure working together on The CW drama. The franchise is also crossing over with Gen V, as members of the spinoff series are set to appear this season.

While six episodes remain of the ongoing season, viewers should expect more deaths in the coming weeks, as Eric Kripke and several actors, including Karl Urban and Antony Starr, have confirmed that no one is safe, meaning anyone could bite the dust. However, won't end in 2026, as a prequel series, Vought Rising, with Ackles' Soldier Boy, is set to premiere in 2027.

Aya Cash will co-lead the series, reprising the role as Klara Risinger, a.k.a. Stormfront, in the 1950s. It's currently unknown if will happen, as Prime Video has not announced whether the series will continue.

The Boys season 5 will release weekly episodes until the series finale on May 20 on Prime Video.
