I never thought I'd say this, but Spider-Man is officially on fraud watch after the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest threat. Spider-Man will play a big part in , thanks to his fourth standalone project in the MCU. The will usher in a period of rebirth for the hero, as he comes into his own in the franchise.
As the highlighted, Peter Parker will encounter several foes in that film. From a mysterious, unknown threat to the ninjas of the Hand and a classic Spidey villain like Scorpion, the Friendly Neighborhood hero has his work cut out for him.
Regardless of how many villains he has to fight going forward, Spider-Man is officially on fraud watch. A recent MCU property is introducing a threat to New York City that could grow much bigger, even to an Avengers-level. Despite this, Spider-Man is nowhere to be seen in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Raises One Question: Where Is Spider-Man?!
Warning! The rest of this article contains mild spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again season 2's first three episodes.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episodes 2 and 3 were released on Disney+ in April 2026, further establishing the growing war between the titular character and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. These episodes did so by giving Fisk even more power, be it in the courtrooms of New York or the criminal underworld. Not only does Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) give him full jurisdiction to imprison anyone he deems worthy in secret locations, but he can also control whether or not these prisoners get a fair trial.
Superheroes like Swordsman were used to explore this, with the vigilante being imprisoned solely for opposing Fisk's regime; records were then falsified, a character assassination was wrongly built, and Swordsman was deemed guilty in a completely unfair court of law. Perhaps the most important part of all of this in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episodes 2 and 3 is that Fisk clearly has no intention of slowing down.
This will only spread to more vigilantes and superheroes if Fisk has his way, with New York already becoming his own personal battleground. With all this established, one question remains: where the heck is Spider-Man?! It is difficult to imagine a hero like Spider-Man simply letting the AVTF walk around New York, imposing Fisk's warped will over its citizens.
Somehow, though, this seems to be the case. While rights issues may result in Spider-Man being absent from Daredevil: Born Again, even an Easter egg to explain that he is still fighting Fisk's corruption in his own way would be appreciated. This is yet to happen, despite Fisk's plans growing large enough to threaten other superheroes, potentially worldwide. I hate to say it, but at this point, Peter, you're officially on fraud watch.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Needs To Address What Happened In New York
If Daredevil: Born Again season 2 isn't going to address where Spider-Man is in this fight, then Spider-Man: Brand New Day needs to. Too much is simply happening for Spider-Man not to be involved. Fisk has established martial law over New York with his main targets being vigilantes and superheroes.
Undoubtedly, Spider-Man is the most high-profile superhero in New York in the MCU. It would make no sense for Spider-Man to be completely unaware of what Fisk was up to. Even a small reference to his opposition to Fisk in a potential montage in Brand New Day, teased in the film's trailer, would be appreciated.
Spider-Man does not have to directly overlap with Daredevil, but, to save Peter's reputation, the MCU needs to address what he was up to during the events of the show. With The Punisher playing a role in Brand New Day, this could be easy. Hopefully, Marvel Studios deems it as important as I do to make sure Peter was fighting the good fight in his own way.
Spider-Man Is Not The Only New York Superhero On Fraud Watch
I can't give Spider-Man too much flak here, given that, as others have pointed out, he is not the only New York-based superhero on fraud watch. Daredevil: Born Again will include Jessica Jones, gratefully giving her agency in the fight against Fisk's dark plans. This doesn't explain where the other Defenders are, though.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist are seemingly not going to be part of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, putting them right next to Spider-Man. Heck, even directly in season 2 of Born Again, despite the credible real-world reason for his absence.
Then, there are other heroes who have been active in New York in the MCU's past, like Kate Bishop and Echo, who are failing to stand up to Fisk. At this point, it is even difficult to imagine the Avengers themselves not getting involved after a main hub of the universe falls under a madman's tyrannical rule. Hopefully, the future of the MCU will address these absences after Daredevil: Born Again season 2, with the reason for Spider-Man's perhaps the most desired.
