The Normal-type Pokémon Ditto had a lot of attention in recently, appearing more often due to the release of Pokémon Pokopia. That title has you build your own community as a Ditto disguised as a human, but in Pokémon GO, Ditto also likes to hide among existing Pokémon. For May 2026, Ditto has returned to old habits following crossover and anniversary events, confusing players once again.
Just like the , the Normal-type Pokémon may have an expanded list of creatures it is trying to imitate. However, even with an increased list of covers, finding Ditto is still the same process. All you need to do is capture any of the Pokémon Ditto could be in a normal encounter, with the usual "Oh?" message afterward revealing a Ditto hiding in that form.
All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon Go (May 2026)
Multiple Sets Of Covers From Different Events To Consider
Slowly but surely, Ditto has stopped being the ever since March 2026, when multiple events expanded their disguise list beyond a dozen or more Pokémon. For example, the 30th Anniversary event for the Pokémon series introduced a variety of classic Pokémon as alternate disguises for Ditto. At the same time, the launch of spin-off title Pokémon Pokopia also gave Ditto several more disguises, at least temporarily.
As of this time of writing, it is unclear whether Ditto has dropped any of the disguises from those events, but the Normal-type's typical masks remain the same. Ditto will always appear among 11–12 consistent Pokémon, with those added from events having varying degrees of likelihood. In truth, you could have a chance to find a Ditto through every disguise, but sticking to the core few Ditto always transforms into raising your odds of finding one more.

While their doesn't make them more common, Pokémon like Magnemite, Voltorb, Growlithe, and Mankey are used for Ditto disguises more often than others. Since some Pokémon, like Duskull, can only be found at night anyway, it's best to look for the Pokémon that are consistently around.
How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto
Different Items Can Heighten The Odds In Your Favor
Every Pokémon that Ditto could hide behind appears and disappears based on their own spawn rate, but this is something players can manipulate in Pokémon GO. Items like the Lure Module or Incense can greatly raise the spawn rates of every Pokémon around you, causing one of Ditto's possible disguises to show up almost right away. Collaborating with friends to activate these items can be very helpful for everyone finding a Ditto of their own.
and other changed systems make Ditto an unreliable Pokémon for battles or Gym defense, but the Pokémon has some niche uses in Raids outside of being a collectible bragging right.
Doing Special Research for various events may also grant you encounters with Ditto disguises, raising your chances of discovering one even more. Shiny Ditto are even harder to find, with a 1 in 64 chance of any Ditto you find being a special variant. With a normal Ditto already hard to find, you only have about a 1.5% chance of getting a Shiny, which might take a grind to achieve.

It could take 10, 20, or 30 attempts of catching certain Pokémon before you ever get the transforming pink blob you want. That being said, getting one or more Ditto from their disguises in Pokémon GO is slightly easier in May 2026, as a wider range of masks broadens your search beyond a select few creatures.
