and will soon offer the biggest thrill for movie fans as their crime movie hits a free streaming platform.

In his career, Cavill has been a part of some major blockbusters. He is of course best known for playing Superman / Clark Kent in the Man of Steel branch of the DC comic adaptations. Other notable films include a and the recent The Ministry of Ungentlemently Warfare.

Now, one of Cavill's smaller films, , has set a free-to-watch streaming release date. In just under a week (starting May 1), Night Hunter will be available on streaming. The film will release on the free platform Pluto TV.

As compared with some of the actors' more notable blockbusters, Night Hunter is a much smaller movie for Cavill. It is a lower-budget crime thriller from unknown first-time feature director David Raymond. The film ended up getting a small theatrical release, and made just over $1 million.

In it, Cavill plays Detective Walter Marshall, who is investigating the death of a woman who has seemed to escape from captivity. When this case unlocks a series of missing person cases, they catch a suspect but start to wonder if he is at fault after all.

Cavill stars opposite Daddario's Rachel Chase, a police profile. The supporting cast includes Ben Kingsley, Stanley Tucci, Minka Kelly, Nathan Fillion, Emma Tremblay, and Brendan Fletcher. Despite this star-studded cast, Night Hunter did not receive great reviews upon its 2018 release.

In fact, the movie barely broke a two-digit Tomatometer approval, with just a 14% from critics aggregated by Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences were slightly more generous but were still split on the film, giving it a 50% Popcornmeter overall. This represents fairly negative opinions on the movie overall.

That said, Night Hunter only had just over 250 reviews from audience members. This means that, while those who saw it were pretty split on the film, the movie's biggest problem was lack of viewership overall. Fans of Cavill's or Daddario's specifically may have been more forgiving of the film and its twists and turns.

As such, Night Hunter now has the opportunity to change the narrative from its previous flop status. Its Pluto TV release will give audiences more incentive to watch the movie, given that it is free. Whether Night Hunter can pull a new audience will be determined upon its release to streaming this upcoming week.
