Nicolas Cage's creepiest new horror movie character from is officially returning to the big screen.
Osgood Perkins is developing a new follow-up to his record-breaking 2026 film Longlegs, with Cage set to return as the movie's star and producer. Perkins is directing, writing and producing the upcoming horror feature. The new installment, which does not have a release date yet, will take place in the Longlegs universe but won't be a direct sequel.
Before Longlegs, horror filmmaker , I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and Gretel & Hansel, then went on to release The Monkey, which adapted Stephen King's short story of the same name, and Keeper.
Other producers include Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Chris Ferguson and Dave Caplan. Paramount Pictures is taking over as the distributor after Neon decided not to continue due to a larger-than-expected budget.
The into a serial killer named Longlegs, who murdered several families in the Pacific Northwest. Harker leans on her clairvoyant powers to help her solve the case, but the killer leaves law enforcement at a loss when he manages to slink away from the crime scenes without leaving behind evidence.
After being released in July 2026, the horror thriller went on to gross $74 million in North America and $128 million at the global box office. With a reported budget of $10 million, Longlegs proved to be the studio's most successful film domestically.
The movie didn't just find success at the box office; , who gave the film a Certified Fresh score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score currently sitting at 61%.
Along with Cage, Longlegs also stars Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Dakota Daulby, Kiernan Shipka and Peter Bryant. It's not clear if any of the other cast members will return with Cage for the follow-up.
