Season 1, starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as John and Jane Smith, is an adaptation of the 2005 film of the same name, but instead starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. blew audiences away and even delivered an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with some critics stating that "Finding worthy replacements for Glover and Erskine will be a tall order."

It has been confirmed by that after a month-long delay, production for season 2 of the smash-hit action series has officially begun, with filming already underway. Variety also revealed the new leading roles will be Talia Ryder (Do Revenge, Honey Don't!) as Jane, alongside Mark Eydelshteyn (Anora) as John. Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher was attached, but schedule conflicts prevented her from moving forward.

Former series star Erskine will continue on the show as an executive producer for the second season alongside Glover, who co-created the series for Prime Video. Anna Ouyang Moench (Severance) has and writer for season 2, which was previously handled by Francesca Sloane. The season was originally meant to begin production at the end of 2026, but was put on a hiatus.
