The revolution will continue in Netflix's .

Netflix's record-breaking crime series took the world by storm and went from being an almost-canceled Spanish series into one of the streaming giant's ever. Money Heist achieved worldwide fame, won an International Emmy for Best Drama Series, and has become a pop culture icon for its themes of rebellion and the anti-fascist song "Bella Ciao."

Ahead of the premiere of season 2 of Berlin, the flagship series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) has had a surprising renewal announcement. Netflix has not yet confirmed if it will be a new season of the original series, a spin-off, or a direct continuation from the original story, but the Money Heist universe is expanding. The video making the announcement was shared across with the caption, "Bella Ciao is STILL playing. The world of 'Money Heist' continues."

Netflix's statement suggests that the Money Heist universe is expanding far beyond just another season, but becoming an entire franchise.

"Some stories start with the perfect strike. And this one changed everything. From the first heist for cash to the most artful robbery of the century, including the assault that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain on the line, the universe of ‘Money Heist’ has never stopped growing, evolving, and surprising us.

But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that the revolution NEVER ends. From now on, this is mission control for everything in the ‘Money Heist’ universe. If you want in on the next plan and don’t want to miss a single move from the gang, this is the place to be.

The world of ‘Money Heist’ continues on Netflix."

Money Heist's return was announced by Álvaro Morte, who is known as the Professor in the series, at the premiere of Berlin season 2, which will be released on Netflix on May 15. A Spanish newspaper titled El País announced that the Money Heist production label Vancouver and creator Alex Pina are shooting a four-episode miniseries focusing on Colonel Tamayo (played by Fernando Cayo), however it's unclear if this is the announcement that Netflix is hinting at.

exploded, and from that came the spin-off Berlin, the making of documentary films titled Money Heist: The Phenomenon and Money Heist: From Tokyo to Berlin, as well as a video game. Netflix's record-breaking series could become a worldwide franchise, similar to Squid Game, another record-breaking non-English series, which is now taking over the world with multiple spin-offs planned.

Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix.
