Among wide array of strengths, its almost endless roster of interesting characters remains one of its greatest qualities, and an OG favorite that has been severely underused is finally getting the spotlight he deserves. Considering the superhero show has plenty of fleshed-out heroes as well as countless fascinating villains, it can be hard to find space for everyone.
With the Viltrumite War officially underway, even some of the show's biggest characters will be sidelined to focus more on alongside the Viltrum Empire. This means we may not see the likes of Eve, Debbie, or any of the Guardians of the Globe for the remainder of the season, depending on how the story is balanced.
That said, there is one person back on Earth who has already gotten more screen time than expected this season — Art Rosenbaum. Although became the lowest-rated in the series' history, it did give us a much-needed cameo from Art, who subsequently appeared in episode 5, doing him justice after almost a season-long absence.
Invincible Season 4 Is Finally Giving Mark Hamill's Art More To Do
Voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill, Art Rosenbaum has finally been given more to do in Invincible season 4, even if his appearances are still minor. Throughout seasons 1 and 2, Art acted as a voice of wisdom, giving both Mark and Debbie someone reliable they could turn to, yet his involvement slowly fizzled out as the story progressed.
Other than a brief mention in the premiere, Art only featured once in Invincible season 3, where he provided Oliver with his first superhero costume alongside Mark with his blue and black suit. Unfortunately, he was relegated to pretty much just a costume designer last season, making it great to see him more involved this time around.
Not only was he a big inspiration behind , but he also gave him a motivational pep talk that helped the protagonist with his mental struggles. Then in episode 5, he conversed with Omni-Man upon his return to Earth, where the two shared a drink and caught up.
Art appeared in six out of Invincible's eight episodes in season 1. Since then, he has appeared twice in season 2, once in season 3, and three times so far in season 4.
However, while Art put on a friendly face, he let Nolan know he wasn't going to make him suits anymore since he only fitted heroes, essentially confirming that Omni-Man was seen as a villain on Earth now. When the Viltrumite eventually left, he breathed a sigh of relief, suggesting he was terrified of Nolan throughout their entire chat.
These small roles may seem unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but they are integral to making Art feel like a crucial ally of the Grayson family. The fact that even Omni-Man turned to him in his time of need shows that Art is a moral compass for these central characters, and it's nice to see him being used properly again.
Mark Hamill's Art Has Been A Quiet, Yet Vital, Presence In Invincible Since Season 1
Without Art, Invincible's main storyline wouldn't change all that much, but it would make some key characters feel less complete, proving how important his quiet presence has been. He's been a vital part of Nolan's life on Earth, feeling like his one true friend, which may be a more significant part of turning him against the Viltrumites than many think.
Art has always been real with Nolan, and despite being petrified of him in season 4, he didn't shy away from telling Omni-Man his true feelings. This helps humanize the former villain, and their history together is something Nolan may silently cherish. Likewise, Art was a crucial part of getting Debbie through her trauma following Omni-Man's betrayal.
He gave her a shoulder to cry on while providing words of wisdom that helped Debbie grow stronger, allowing her to move on from what happened, at least to some degree. If not for him, latest episode, as Art gave her the confidence to stand up for herself.

Now, he's helping Mark avoid following in his father's footsteps, which isn't the first time he's been there for the protagonist either. Art may not fight in any wars or have his own subplots, but he's often at the core of Invincible's more emotional and tender moments, proving he belongs in the series.
It's why such a legendary voice actor like Mark Hamill was tasked with this role, as he has the experience and nuance to be this constant figure of hope. While Invincible will likely lose some beloved characters as time goes on, Art should stick around for as long as possible, since he's the Grayson family's most loyal and reliable friend.
