Season 3 returns with new creative leadership: co-showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman step into the role previously held by departing showrunner Todd Harthan. According to Variety, the duo will helm the series alongside Kaitlin Olson as executive producer.

Nora and Lilla Zuckerman previously ran Peacock’s Poker Face and were set to lead Rian Johnson’s mystery series before it was shelved. Their current commitments also include writing duties and executive production on Scream 8.
Expressing enthusiasm about their new collaboration, the Zuckermans highlighted their excitement to explore Morgan’s evolving storyline alongside industry partners at 20th Television, Goddard Textiles, and Kaitlin Olson herself.
"We’re thrilled to join forces with Drew, Sarah, Andrea, and our colleagues at 20th and ABC on this exciting new chapter for High Potential. Crafting intricate mysteries around Morgan’s brilliant mind is a dream come true," shared the co-creators.
Beyond leadership changes, ABC’s flagship crime comedy faces further surprises: main cast member Nick Wagner’s fate remains uncertain after Season 2, though actor Howey is confirmed to return as a guest star.
High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson as the sharp-witted Morgan Gilroy—a high-potential intellectual advising the LAPD—has quickly become one of ABC’s top-performing dramas, setting multiple viewership records. Its second season finale drew over 12.69 million viewers within just seven days.
The ensemble cast features Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes, supported by guest appearances from Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mekhi Phifer, and Susan Kelechi Watson. Created by Drew Goddard, the show debuted in 2026 alongside hits such as Abbott Elementary, 9-1-1, and The Rookie.
While ABC has yet to announce a precise release date for Season 3, anticipation builds for its anticipated fall 2027 premiere.
