is a very compelling offering, and if you happen to main Sony's flagship console at home, it really does offer a ton to do. Between the monthly free games to download and keep, and the ever rotating catalog, there's a little something for everyone, with the only galling aspect being the ever-increasing price.
One area where it is particularly strong is in the RPG department, with everything from to available to subs from Extra upwards. There's plenty to choose from, but one in particular is deserving of your attention, and it has got plenty of hours of fun under the hood.
PlayStation Plus Gamers Shouldn't Skip This RPG
If you weren't already aware, is available on PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium/Deluxe tiers, and it's a stunning release that's well worthy of your attention if you haven't given it any yet. Pitched as a "roguelike road trip of the damned," the game features a roster of playable heroes and turn-based combat, with an art style that you genuinely won't have seen anywhere else.
Essentially, you'll be setting out on an expedition with your allies, with the roguelike element being the fact that even if you die early, you'll have additional resources to improve your characters for the next trip out.
It also comes with some genuinely interesting and unique in-game mechanics that really place the onus on the player to be tactical in their approach. The biggest and most important of these is the Affinity system, which leads to positive or negative effects based on the interactions and relationships that members of your squad have.
Whilst it's obviously a very different prospect to a traditional open-world RPG game like or , this strategy-centric approach to the genre really is a very rewarding way to play, and it appeals in a totally different way to the two mentioned previously.
Darkest Dungeon 2 Is Absolutely Brutal
While we're at it, Darkest Dungeon II is also one of the more brutal games you will ever play aesthetically, with some of the darkest and most visceral visuals we've ever seen in a game of its ilk. If you're a fan of mutilated bodies and other kinds of horror and gore, then this is almost certainly a release that you'll enjoy playing.
